Background

AgriWise is one of the leading agricultural software companies in the UK. Traditionally its strength had been in developing farm and harvest labor tracking software, primarily in the berry industry. When the company’s management decided they wanted to enter the North American market, they realized would have to re-think their product offering and their go-to-market strategy. In addition they realized that in order to pursue their growth strategy, they would require additional financial capital.

Approach

FLG worked with AgriWise team to:

• Reposition product offering to address specific US market needs while emphasizing its core strengths of data tracking and management information systems for agriculture
• Refine and broaden AgriWise software functionality to US requirements to include traceability and quality attribute tracking
• Introduce and sell the AgriWise solution to a broad spectrum of US grower packer shippers and farm input companies
• Successfully raise investment funds in the US capital markets

Results

FLG repositioned AgriWise as a “software provider aimed at helping businesses in agriculture improve their operating and financial performance.”  Today AgriWise offers not only the state of the art Labor and Production Tracking software but is considered one of the best traceability vendors in the fresh produce industry.  The AgriWise Farm Application provides broad functionality in the field and in the packing-house.

FLG helped AgriWise to establish working relationships with a broad range of US based produce companies including Stemilt, Seminis Vegetable Seeds, Giumarra, Reiter Affiliated Companies; across many different commodity groups including grapes, apples, berries, treefruit, asparagus, and broccoli; and throughout various growing regions including California, Florida, Mexico and Chile.
